There’s nothing quite like a post work out smoothie to replenish our energy and revitalise our body. This delicious blend of raw, organic ingredients works on so many levels and is not only nutritious, but delicious too! Bursting with wholesome, organic, ‘superfood’ ingredients, rich in antioxidants and trace minerals, this smoothie will kick start your day and have you rolling out the door in no time!
Bananas, rich in potassium, provide an instant energy boost and aids the functioning of the body’s cells, nerves and muscles. Cinnamon, rich in antioxidants and antimicrobial properties is said to help with balancing blood sugar levels. Peanuts and almonds are a valuable source of brain-boosting, energy-giving protein, whilst maca and cacao, ancient Incan superfoods, provide important trace minerals used to increase energy, stamina and provide natural mood boosting properties.
So what exactly is a superfood? A superfood is exactly that! A food that contains significantly higher quantities of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and other health-boosting, anti-aging, disease fighting goodness! Some are every day whole foods that you’ll likely have tried before (such as broccoli, garlic and blueberries), whilst others are more exotic, originating in the Amazonian rainforests and cultivated for centuries by the ancient Mayan cultures.
Organic Maca powder is a nutrient dense whole food, known for its energising and nourishing properties. It is rich in amino acids, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and trace elements and is used to increase energy and stamina! Naturally gluten free, dairy free and high in protein, this nutrient dense powder is a great dietary supplement for vegans and is said to increase mental alertness and concentration.
Organic raw cacao is somewhat different from the common “Cocoa” most of us grew up with. Free from pesticides and fumigation chemicals, organic raw cacao is rich in antioxidants and is a great source of magnesium, calcium, copper, zinc and more. Organic cacao contains 40 times the antioxidants of blueberries and is the highest plant based source of iron. As a natural mood elevator and antidepressant, this nutrient dense ‘superfood’ will leave you feeling happy and revitalised.
